    A couple years behind this original post, but I came here after searching for why my main assembly isn't showing in my BOM. I get all of the parts showing up, but not the main assembly. It's a FAB and everything is set to NORMAL, and I select "FAB" when initiating my parts list, but the only thing that doesn't show up is the main assembly (I don't have any subassemblies). It's not a large assembly by any stretch either. My parts list is set to STRUCTURED too. What am I missing??

    Inventor supports "unfold in flat pattern" option which you can check when authoring the IDE. The problem is when you need to have a different K factor that the one in your sheet metal unfold rule.

    Jesus, this is NOT history of CAD, this is advert on AutoCAD. In reality AutoCAD was and still is a niche product in professional CAD and CAE application. CATIA, IDEAS, Microstation and now SolidWorks were, and are way to go. And before AutoCAD there were plenty of professional CAD systems running on mainframes with specialized graphics terminals, and later on Workstations from HP, SUN, Dec, SGI... AutoCAD was a budget solution and mostly 2D despite the 3D name... So sorry, thumbs down for misleading name.

    Pete, I know that there is a .preset file for the custom presets, do you know if there is a way to make that into an Excel based system? Or maybe it already exists somewhere?

    • @Team-D3
      @Team-D3 9 месяцев назад

      @edouardstringer3601, thanks for reaching out! I'm not aware of a way to control the .Preset file via Excel. However, it looks like XML files can be imported into Excel, manipulated and then exported back to XML format. I'll have to do some testing to see how efficient that is. Initially it doesn't look good, as Excel isn't reading the .Preset as an XML file... It may be more efficient to edit the file with some sort of XML editor. Let me know if you have any further questions and I'd be happy to dig into things further. Thanks for your patience, hope all is well and have a most blessed day! - Pete
